Reviews of Blues For Dexter Linwood
A raw homage to early folk and blues, with Albright breathing new life into century-old songs through fierce 12-string and slide guitar.
- Acoustic Guitar Magazine
Todd Albright doesn’t mind being an outlier…
Albright also brings his 12 strings to songs by artists who only recorded with half as many: Mississippi John Hurt’s Frankie, Blind Boy Fuller’s Step It Up and Go, and, most audaciously (and successfully), Blind Lemon Jefferson’s Stockin’ Feet Blues.
-Living Blues Magazine
In a word: he’s authentic on a single microphone & his fingerstyle country blues guitar playing & Delta blues is superb…
Todd Albright brings it.
-Americana Highways
Todd Albright integrates deep familiarity with the golden work of prewar East Coast and Delta blues artisans into his own musical vision…Albright merges precision in his singing and finger-picking of thick double strings with emotional virtuosity. (4/5 stars)
-DownBeat
Blues For Dexter Linwood captures Todd Albright channeling pre-war blues with fierce authority and fingerstyle command.
-American Blues Scene
If you want to get a real feel for where the roots of much americana stems from or if you are an existing fan of pre-war acoustic blues, then this album by a master of his craft is a must.
